Air Gun Training Camp – April 17-19, 2026
Join us for MidwayUSA Foundation’s Air Gun Training Camp with Olympians and Elite Coaches at the Missouri Marksmanship Education Center in Columbia, Missouri. This camp is open to air pistol and air rifle athletes of all ages and skill levels (although a basic marksmanship and safety class should be taken before signing up for this training camp). 100% of your donation will benefit the MidwayUSA Foundation youth shooting endowment of your choice and be matched with current matching programs.
Athlete registration donation: $325 – Limited to 24 athletes (12 air pistol & 12 air rifle)
Coach registration donation: $150
Coach registration is for adults who attend with athletes and want to stay on the range during training. Coach registration allows adults to interact with the Elite Training Coaches during range training and classroom discussions. If you do not register as a coach, you will not be able to stay on the range during this training camp. This registration also allows adults to eat with the athletes.
It is recommended that each athlete bring their own equipment. Limited loaner air pistols and equipment are available. Please contact Sarah Hall at shall@midwayusafoundation.org for additional information.
Registration for athletes and coaches includes 4 meals (Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday lunch)
Registration does not include lodging, transportation, or breakfast.
Pistol Coaches
James Hall is an internationally distinguished air pistol shooter with roots in shooting rifle at Jacksonville State University. He has competed at numerous World Cups, 2 World Championships, was the 2023 Pan American Games Silver medalist, won a gold medal at the 2018 CAT Games, securing a quota for the US at Tokyo in 2020, and competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, placing 10th. Currently, James works as the Director of Sport Advancement at the Missouri Marksmanship Education Center, an indoor air and smallbore range in Columbia, MO, operated by Marksmanship USA.
Tim Schmeltzer is nationally ranked in air pistol, consistently placing within the top five. He began shooting an air pistol in 2019 after several years of shooting a rifle. He has multiple podium finishes at national matches. Tim has competed in CAT Games, World Cups, and other international matches since 2022. He started coaching for Team Winning Solutions in 2021 in both pistol and rifle disciplines. He also specializes in gunsmithing for Olympic shooting firearms.
Rifle Coaches
Jeanne Haverhill is an experienced member of Team USA and Team Winning Solutions, having spent almost 3 years in Colorado Springs as a resident athlete for USA Shooting. She started her career in the prone leagues of Pennsylvania, then became an Akron Zip and later a national champion with the TCU Horned Frogs in 2023. Jeanne has competed in numerous domestic and international matches with TWS and Team USA, notably winning medals at the 2021 Winter Airgun Championships, 2022 Dixie Double, and winning the 2023 Elva Open Super Final and Mixed Team Finals.
Chance Cover is a veteran of the shooting sports, having started shooting in 2005 on his high school sporter team. He went on to walk-on to the WVU rifle team and was a member of the team for the first two of their 5 consecutive National Championships from 2013-2017. He has also competed at several World Cups for Team USA from 2015 through 2025 while working with the CMP as a summer camp coach and later the summer camp director. He joined Team Winning Solutions in 2022 after moving to Colorado Springs to become a resident athlete and has also taken a job with Midway USA Foundation, where he hopes to continue his own athletic career and influencing the future of youth shooting sports.
Lucas Kozeniesky is a two-time Olympian, competing in the men’s air rifle at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is a Tokyo silver medalist in the Mixed 10m Air Rifle competition. His rifle experience began in high school, leading him on to the North Carolina State rifle team. After his first Olympics, Lucas made major improvements to his training and mental game. He’s committed to sharing those winning values with junior athletes through his shooting consultation business, Team Winning Solutions (TWS). In 2020, Lucas tied a World Record and set a new National Record, securing his spot on the 2020 Olympic Team. Later that year, Lucas won his first ISSF World Cup Medal in New Delhi and re-broke his own National Record.

9:00 am – Classroom: Shot process (breathing, natural point of aim, relaxation)
10:00 am – Range: Warm-up exercises, routines, and dry-firing
10:30 am – Range: Putting shot process knowledge into practice
11:30 am – Lunch break
12:30 pm – Group Photo
12:45 pm – Range: Putting shot process knowledge into practice continued (focus and follow-through techniques)
2:00 pm – Classroom: What does a match look like and how to prepare for one
3:00 pm – Range: 20-shot practice match
4:15 pm – Classroom: Analyze target groups and discuss match pressure/nerves
5:30 pm – Dinner

This event will be held rain or shine. Should dangerous weather conditions arise that require cancellation, registration donations will be eligible for transfer to another MidwayUSA Foundation event.
